Instruction on how to use your MDSO New Smart Badge Clip Holder

Install Instructions:
On wallet badges, slightly bend out the clip on the back. Hook the clip over the cross bar on the badge holder. Hand press the badge in, sometimes it’s a snug fit. You can also place the holder face down on a table to fully seat the badge into the cutout. While the badge is facedown, bend the clip down over the cross bar, sometimes using a vice or large pliers may be necessary to draw the badge down securely and flush to where is has no or very little wiggle. Just make sure to protect the finish of the badge while doing so.
For uniform badges with the vertical bar that gets captured in the small clasp, just take the loose bar and pop it through the top section above the crossbar and press the badge down. The lock the bar in the clasp. Depending on the age, condition or manufacturer of the badge, you may need to slightly bend the bar so that it contacts the cross bar on the holder and secures the badge in place.
If either style badge seems wobbly in the holder, check the badge to make sure there isn’t a part of it that is bent, as this happens a lot from daily use/carry. They are pretty easy to straighten out against a hard surface. Just bend a little and refit to the holder until you get a fit that is satisfactory.
I then use a non-permanent threadlocker like blue Loctite or Vibratite on the 5 mounting Chicago screws and loosely install those finger tight. Use both hands to even up the top and bottom pieces like you would when squaring up a deck of shuffled playing cards. When you get the two pieces even, use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to tighten down the screw. You don’t need to Hulk down the screws, but just get them snugged up. The threadlocker will keep them in place after it dries. I usually do this in a circular pattern, snugging up all five on the first past and then give it a little more to seat them down on the second pass. On some models, the five mounting Chicago screws have posts that have a neoprene washer affixed to them. This is primarily for non-permanent installs where threadlocker isn’t convenient. Just follow the same procedure as above, but just snug up the screw and then put an additional ¼ to ½ turn. The washer prevents the hardware from wiggling loose.
I usually do all of the above for local purchases, and like to include these instructions with orders where I can’t do the installs. The threadlocker is important. If you don’t use it or routinely check the tightness of the mounting hardware, they will wiggle loose. I usually have replacements, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
I also warranty the badge holders for on year from the time of purchase. The warranty covers damage while in the course of work, like use of force incidents, tearing it off on a fence in a foot chase, etc. I work on the honor system, so if you manage to break your badge holder through some action of your own, keep the hardware and clip to reuse and I’ll mail you a new top and bottom for a discounted price plus the label. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Be safe.
